I was surprised by the response to my proposals from certain city fire officials. I did not presume to speak on their behalf. I stated my belief that the City must foster a closer association to support their (fire company) endeavors to keep abreast with modern technology, training, and fund-raising.
That is my core philosophy and one, which I intend to introduce to City Hall when interacting with all independent organizations and businesses within the City of Sunbury. I shall listen to their concerns, be proactive, and assist them in an effort to facilitate appropriate solutions to achieve their objectives.
I do not claim to be the originator of the idea of a mentoring program. Fire Chief Rhoads stated they had tried to introduce such a program 10 years ago. Fireman are the experts, however, a fresh look, discussion, research and strategy from all perspectives may be the key to any success. I also believe I can offer my assistance, and through the influence of the mayor’s office help the companies get an effective program up and running. Each of my postings has been and will continue to be sent to all traditional and nontraditional media as well as my blog, with information about my candidacy.
As stated in the March 2, 2013 edition of the Daily Item announcing my candidacy, “The community will be quite surprised but pleased by my approach to all matters involving Sunbury. My platform is one of working together as a City. Each citizen must be reminded that they are the heartbeat and talent, which shall revive our family-like community spirit.
Julie Brosius, candidate for the Mayor of Sunbury
